Kaweah River-Tributary Flow

Kaweah River Flow by Tributary and time of Year

The Kaweah has significant changes in the contribution from the various tributaries depending on the time of year. Early in the runoff season, the North Fork is a major contributor and by the end of the runoff the main contributor is the Middle Fork. What this means is that the CFS Inflow to the Lake does not necessarily represent the actual flow at any one time on any one section. Additionally there is a large Flow Variation over the course of the day with the peak occurring around midnight and the low at about 6PM. Variation over the course of one day can be a high of 50% more than the low. Variations on the Dinely Bridge gauge can be half a foot or more at higher flows.
